Does Gum Infection During Pregnancy Harm The Fetus?

I am 35 weeks pregnant. I went to the dentist recently and was told I had pregnancy induceded gingivitis and all 4 of my wisdom teeth are coming in but two are impacted. They said they couldn t fix anything since I m in my third trimester so I have to wait until I deliver. My gums are swelling pretty bad and one of the white lumps on my gums just popped. What do I do and will this cause unborn baby problems?

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
No, this will not be harmful for baby and you should not worry.
If there is swelling, you can apply cold compresses and have mouth hygiene, but in case of progression you may need antibiotics which are more safe for intake in last trimester then earlier. I am sure it will be fine at the end whatever you do.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
