Does Gluten Intolerance Cause Bloated Stomach And Irregular Bowel Movements?

I have a 1 year old who has a v hard bloated stomach. He has been off his food and I've noticed for a while now, his bowel movements aren't very regular. He won't go for a day or 2 then go and then cycle starts again. I'm gluten intolerance so I wonder if that is the problem? It seems to have happened since he's been on cow's milk. Any help will be great!

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
1 year old child can have the bowel movements once in a few day so not much of a worry if the habit was before starting the cow milk. But bloating and hard abdomen is not expected in such a child of 1 year.
If the problems started after cow milk then the possibilities are that there is intolerance to the lactose or some proteins and anything as you also have gluten intolerance.
I would advise you the following in such a case:
Get the clinical evaluation by a Pediatric Surgeon or a Pediatrician if Surgeon in not available.
X-ray of the abdomen in erect position.
Ultrasonography.
Fecoanalysis and tests of blood.
All these can get you a proper diagnosis and hence help for the proper management. You can stop the cow milk and see if this helps.
Keen observation of the progress and noticing the factors that cause abdominal problems is the key factor in proper diagnosis.
