Does Gemfiborzil Result In Loss Of Appetite?
ive been taking gemfiborzil for a couple of wks, ever since i was taking the med. my appitite went from good to poor, living on 1 banana in morning 1 little proteen bar nothing else for 24 hours, if i forse myself to eat i get a tension headaCHE AND sore and stiff muscles, is that normal?

Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
As you describe, there are side effects with the gemfibrozil a cholesterol controlling drug.
There is gastric irritation, leading to loss of feel to eat. and muscle pains. In addition, there is effect on the liver function tests and possibility of jaundice.
So if it is to be continued periodically liver function tests are to be done.
To improve appetite,i usually prescribe to my patient with gemfibrozil,omeprazole, domperidone, and antacid gel.
