Does Food Allergy During Pregnancy Affect The Child?

Hi, i am 20 weeks pregnant i just ate something and i believe my baby may be allergic to it because about 5 minutes after i finished eating it i got red spots an started to itch really bad. What should I do? will a medicine like Benadryl help? Will my baby be alright, should I go to a hospital?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The reaction indicates that you are allergic to whatever was taken, not the baby. In some cases, an allergic reaction may slowly develop so that we can start reacting to foods previously used before with no problem.

If the baby has a reaction to the food used when he or she is older then you would know if he/she is allergic to it as well.

You can use benadryl to help with the reaction. It would not affect the baby.

I hope this helps
