Does Excessive Thirst And Occasional Blurred Vision After Dinner Indicate Type2 Diabetes?

I am experiencing inordinate thirst and occasional blurred vision often after dinner and am concerned about type 2 diabetes. I am 64 and slightly overweight, have CAD and would like to include a related test on the laboratory requisition (already in my possession.) What should I check on the sheet? Random Glucose or Glucose AC (or PC) or other?? Thanks for your help.

Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi Sir/Mam, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.

Yes the symptoms you have mentioned mostly correlate to Diabetes type 2.

The test accurate for the diagnosis for Diabetes is Glucose tolerance test(GTT).
The other test which are useful and come under next order are HbA1c, FBS, Post prandial sugar levels. But I advice GTT.

Hope this guides you.
Thank you,
Dr. Phanindra Dulipala.
