Hi Dr.! I've been treated for fibromyalgia for many years. I'm doing fairly well with control of symptoms, keep active and have flares which are helped by short course prednisone. A test result from a special laboratory showed I had at some time been exposed to Lyme disease. Does every person who had a tic bite get Lyme disease? I don't want excessive testing done. I don't have many of the symptoms of advanced Lyme disease.

Hi,

Every person with tic bite won't get Lyme's disease. It may depend upon the tick type, like black-legged ticks.

Chances of getting an infection are 5-50%. The exact probability depends on three factors:
-the tick species
-where it came from
-and how long the tick was feeding.

It has a complete cure also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
