Does Eating Roots Of Hair Cause Intestinal Blockage?

I have a case of hair pulling and eating the roots of the hair. I have never eaten full pieces of hair, just the roots. So very small amounts. This only started when I was around 16, and I m 18 currently. I have no signs of intenstinal blockage at the moment but I was wondering if there should be any concern for possible blockage? Since the pieces were very small, I would have thought the pieces would have been small enough to pass through my system without any (or many) worries. I am planning to stop this disorder because of the worries about medical trouble, but is there anything I should be concerned about for now?

Dear,
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. People who have trichotillomania have an irresistible urge to pull out their hair, usually from their scalp, eyelashes, and eyebrows. The exact cause of trichotillomania isn't known. It may be related to abnormalities in brain pathways that link areas involved in emotional regulation, movement, habit formation, and impulse control.

Infection, skin damage, and permanent hair loss are possible complications of trichotillomania. The hair loss and skin damage can lead to problems with self-esteem and body image. In extreme cases, some people might avoid social situations in order to hide the hair loss. There is no evidence of stomach or intestine related illness due to trichotillomania. Please consult a psychologist for behavioral therapy to cure your problem.
