Does E Coli Infection Causes Acne?

First of all, I am a 21 year old male who has never dealt with acne. At the end of september I was infected with e coli. In the month of October, I had a bad breakout of acne only on my forehead and a little bit on the sides of my face. I am wondering if it might be related in any way.

Thank you

Infectious Diseases Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

I understand your concern.

I am Dr. Arun Tank, infectious diseases specialist, answering your query.

E. coli never causes acne.

P. acene is the causative agent involve in the pimple. It is a type of anaerobic infection which even do not respond to treatment of E.coli

It is the age of hormonal imbalance, so acene in this age is common.

I advice you to wash the face four to five times a day. You can take Tab. Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for a week as and when required under your doctors guidance.

I will be happy to answer your further concern, you can ask me on bit.ly/DrArun.
Thank you.
