Does Double Dose Of Paracetamol For A Toddler Cause Adverse Effects?

Hi I gave double dose paracetamol to my 20 months old daughter with the gap of 1 hour only once in a day by mistake and she was having no fever . Next day she got watery eyes with swelling on eyes . I m worried abt side effects . One was paracetamol And other was cold and cough syrup with 125mg paracetamol in it

Paracetamol dosing is based on weight rather than on age. The weight is not mentioned here. Usually the daily dose should not exceed 60mg/kg in adults and can be increased to a little extent in children.
Now that you have already given double dose, hold off the next dose. Observe for any abnormal symptoms like stomach ache, vomiting, jaundice and report immediately if they are severe. Swelling and watery eyes can be due to other constituents of the cold and cough syrup also. I would advice you not to repeat this double dosing in the future. Hope the above information helps you.
