Does Dissolving Stitches In Mouth Cause Pain On Drinking Water?

Age - 22. Height - 5 foot, 1 inch. Weight - 140.

Hi, I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth out last Friday (April 1), and luckily I had minimal pain throughout the week. I went yesterday to the follow up appointment, and everything was fine, however I still have the dissolving stitches in my mouth, and can't open my jaw all the way yet. Then last night I went to drink some water, and when the water hit the right lower side of my mouth, I was in a lot of pain. Today is the same thing. I called my oral surgeon, and he said that is just the stitches dissolving, but I'm not too sure. Is this normal?

Hello,

Thanks for query.

Normally it does not pain while drinking water, the only reason for pain may be wide opening of mouth or negative pressure build up because of using straw or pipe while drinking water.

If you are still in pain please visit your dentist foe check up

Hi,
Thanks for posting the query,

I would suggest you to get the examination done once if the dentist is telling everything is fine then you need not to worry, take lukewarm saline rinses avoid consumption of hot and cold stuffs.

Take care!
