Does Diet Drinks Lead To Larger Cells?

I remember reading an article back in the 80's that said diet drinks lead to larger cells (& therefore weight gain) because of the way the drinks with no calories are absorbed by the cells. Or maybe it was because the cells can't release or use drinks without calories. Is my memory nuts?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Fat cells, in weight gain, do not increase in number but in size.

So persons with increased weight do not have more fat cells but larger fat cells.

This occurs as a result of intake of any foods that promote increased weight.

Excess sugar (any form) is converted to fat in the body and stored.

I hope this helps
