Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, apart from degenerative changes in bones or osteoporosis, age related wear and tear or osteoarthritis should also be ruled out. Autoimmune work up with ESR, CRP, as well as RA factor may be needed to rule out inflammatory arthritis. Uric acid levels and sugar levels should also be monitored. If DEXA scan shows markedly low bone density scores may need injectable bisphosphonates. Meanwhile, OTC analgesic like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen may be helpful.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
