Does Deep Cleaning Help In Treatment Of Calculus Underneath The Gumlines?

hello, I went to the dentist today, and I found out that I have calculus developing underneath my gumlines? I haven t lost any bones yet but my gum tissue are a little flappy? I had my regular cleaning last week and I am already having tartar build up in my pockets. I am still waiting for my insurance response to see if my insurance can cover my deep cleaning procedure? I was just wondering? Can my gum tissues and pockets heal if I have the deep cleaning? how long will it take for it to heal? And how can I keep the germs from entering my pockets? Cause I know flossing and brushing and mouthwas wont help fight it off fully

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of calculus underneath the gum lines which is due to severe inflammation in gums leading to gingivitis which can progress to periodontists.

Need not to worry. I wound suggest you to visit oral physician once and get complete examination done and start treatment accordingly. You should go for deep cleaning and root planning as it will resolve your symptoms. You have to maintain complete basic oral hygiene with brushing, flossing and use of antiseptic mouth wash along with your dietary habits. It will take around 7-10 days for gum to be in normal position after cleaning. Avoid taking snacks specially at night time before sleeping and rinse mouth thoroughly every time you eat.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
