Does Conjunctivitis Cause White Patch In The Eye?

Hi, I have recently had conjunctivitis and my eyes still have discharged. Tonight I have noticed inside one of my lower eyelids there is this white patch, kind of like the white patches you have on your tonsils when you have tonsillitus . When I wiped it with a tissue a bit moved ( rolled up) and it then bled? Please help I m really worried. I also have some bruising under that eye.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You may be suffering from allergic conjunctivitis. Common symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis are intense itching of eyes and urge to rub the eyes. Red eyes. Watery or white, stringy mucus discharge from eyelids that are swollen. Applying artificial tear drops can help relieve pain and symptoms of inflammation.

Since white discharge is coming clean your eyelids with a wet cloth. Applying cold or warm compresses several times daily is helpful. Other cause of patches in the eyes are cataracts. They look like cloudy, opaque patches in the eye. It causes blurry vision and other symptoms.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by an Eye specialist to rule out developing cataract. If needed you will be given medicines to control inflammation, such as decongestants, steroids and anti-inflammatory drops.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
