Does Childhood Meningitis Lead To Back Problems In Old Age?
I had spinal meningitis, influenza B as a child of four. I do not have much information on this, except recently my older sister said for about ten years my mother filled out a questionnaire about my health. I have always had back problems and now am 65 and feeling my back problems returning. I have not seen a doctor for this as I have always been afraid of them, since that spinal tap I had at age 4. I know it s unrealistic but are there any long term effects from this illness? I was very well taken care of in Grace New Haven Hospital which in about 1953 had all the Yale doctors in attendance and then became all one hospital, I think.
Hi,Welcome to healhcare magic. Your back problems has no relation to your childhood meningitis. You are probably suffering from normal backache. It is due to weakness of muscles and bone. You can be helped by back exercises, calcium ,ViaminD3 supplementation if it is low and analgesics (diclofenac sodium) whenever you feel pain. I think your query is answered .You can revert back if any more query
