Hello and thank you for your question. Namenda and aricept are both used to treat dementia, however they work on different neruotransmitters in the brain. Aricept is used to treat mild to moderate dementia and namenda is used to treat moderate to severe dementia. If her dementia is more severe then this could be the cause for her worsening on the aricept. Repeating is one of the symptoms of dementia and is probably just a progression of her dementia and not due to the medication change. Hopefully she will stabilize now that she is back on the namenda. This is a difficult diagnosis and I wish you the best in working with her.
