Hello and welcome to HCM, Protected sex prevents sexually transmitted infections / diseases (STDs). However, infections other than STDs can also affect the urinary tract or the sexually transmitted diseases. Urinary tract infections are common and cause burning sensation during urination. UTI can lead to redness in the urethra and presence of pus cells and infectious agents in the urine. Thus, do not worry about STD if you practise safe sex and consult your primary healthcare provider for treatment of UTI.
