Does Bonviva Ibandronic Acid Cause Any Long Term Side Effects?

I stopped taking bonviva ibandronic acid last October after a period of 7 years. I have read many negative reports about this medicine recently. Should I worry about long term bone weakness, jaw necrosis, oesophagus problems etc.? Could I have been permanently damaged?

HI, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Ibandronic acid is basically a bisphosphonate that helps to restore bone. Every medication has side effects but important thing is that a drug is prescribed when benefits outweighs its side effects. Jaw necrosis can occur but its rare , esophageal problems are common but these can be avoided but just taking some measures.
Always take the tablet with plenty of water-never milk. Take it on an empty stomach before have a meal or drink or an hour afterwards, best time is to take on an empty stomach before breakfast and you should stay in sitting position for half to one hour after taking it, thanks.

Hope i have answered your concerns. If you have any other question feel free to ask .

Wish you good health .
