Does Bleeding Between Anus And Coccyx Indicate Hemorrhoids?

Bleeding at point between anus and coccyx - hemorrhoids?
Hi everyone.

I have noticed for the past few months that I have what seems to be a small open sore about midway between my coccyx and anus - right at the join of my buttocks actually. Occasionally it bleeds (not very much blood), and is sore when sitting down. Other times however it can be pain free for maybe weeks on end.

Does it sound like a hemorrhoid? I have recently started doing a lot of mountain biking, but wouldn't have thought that could cause it?

Many thanks

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It may not be Hemorrhoid, but it seems to be a fistula such as Anorectal fistula which is a formation of the canal from rectum to outside opening.

It could also be the formation of an abscess. The condition demands the clinical examination to diagnose it properly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain
