Does Balanitis Cause Swelling In Scrotum?

My son is 10years old. He was diagnosed with balanitis yesterday due to penis swelling. He was prescribe antibiotics and cream which we used and tonight the swelling was gone. However now the left side of his ball sack (scrotum) appears bigger than the right. When i touch it inside is bigger as well. Is this because of the balanitis?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Balanitis would not cause scrotal swelling. What scrotal swelling you have noticed appears to be due to collection of fluid called 'hydrocele' or due to presence of infection of testis called 'orchitis'.
Kindly get an ultrasound scan of scrotum done to know the status and consult Surgeon with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
