Does An Epidural Steroid Injection Cause Facial Acne?

I had a steroid epidural a week ago. Since that time my face has broken out with terrible acne. I ve never had a problem with acne until now. Could the epidural have caused the acne? I ve had these injections before but it was several years ago. I had absolutely no problem with acne before. It looks and feels terrible and I don t know what to do.

Hi,

Steroid injection does not cause acne. It could be due to something else.

As a first line management, you can apply clindamycin lotion for symptomatic relief.

If lesion persists better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
