Does A Soft, Painless And Enlarged Lymph Node In The Arm Pit Need Immediate Medical Attention?

I have an enlarged lymph node in my armpit, soft, not painful . Was given a mammogram and an echogram of the node. Both negative. How long should I wait if swelling doesn t go away before following up with doctor. What else might this be? No signs of infection.

Hi,

It is an enlarged lymph node or boil or folliculitis.

It may be due to secondary infection (tuberculosis or local infection) or malignancy.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Use tab. Amoxiclav. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu,
