Does Viagra Cause Prolonged Erections?

I have been taking Viagra (20mg) to deal with situational ED. I find myself feeling very worried about the risks of non-ischemic priapism (since I am a young healthy male who gets morning wood, etc), and whenever I wake up with morning wood I worry that I may have had an erection for an extended period while sleeping, thus causing damage to my penis. Is this possible or would the associated pain wake me up? To be clear, while awake the medication is not causing me excessive or prolonged erections.
