Does UTI Cause Vaginal Bleeding?

Hello, since yesterday, I have what I am assuming to be a UTI (symptoms include burning sensation when urinating, mild cramps in the lower abdomen) and now I m experiencing vaginal bleeding which is concerning me. Can a UTI cause vaginal bleeding or is this an indication that this maybe something other than a UTI? Also regarding the abdomen cramps- the pain is a bit sharper on the right side of the abdomen which comes and goes. Thank you, I would appreciate a response!

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Symptoms of burning while urinating, cramps in lower abdomen are suggestive of urinary tract infection.
I suggest you to get a routine urine examination to look for evidence of infection in the urinary tract.
Urinary tract infection can spread to reproductive tract and cause symptoms like vaginal discharge, itchiness etc.
Vaginal bleeding may also accompany reproductive tract infection and
Thus, in addition to routine urine examination, a high vaginal swab may also be taken to look for evidence of infection.
Reproductive tract infection may be accompanied by abdominal cramps.
Thus, an urine infection and reproductive tract infection need to be ruled out by routine urine examination and high vaginal swab.
In case any or both of the investigations are positive, you need to take appropriate antibiotics for the infection.

Thanks and take care
