General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear ma'am, Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, it helps in relieving the symptoms of depression.
You seem to be suffering from depression following a childbirth.
Tryptomer (Amitriptyline) is a tricyclic antidepressant commonly used to treat symptoms of depression like irritation, sadness, anger, lack of interest, mood disturbances, etc. Endogenous depression is more likely to be alleviated than are other depressive states. Continue to take this medication as prescribed by your doctor.
I would also advise you to undergo psychotherapy. It may help to talk through your concerns with a psychiatrist, psychologist or other mental health provider. Through therapy, you can find better ways to cope with your feelings, solve problems, set realistic goals and respond to situations in a positive way. Sometimes family or relationship therapy also helps.
I find this answer helpful
