Does Trileptal Cause Aggressive Behaviour In A Teenager?

Hi! Can Trileptal 150 mg, BID, make my 14 yr old son more aggressive and hateful? He is also on Rexulti 1 mg QHS. We added the Trileptal about 2 weeks ago. He is being treated for mood dysregulation. He has been taking Clonidine .1 mg BID for about 3 yrs with great results. Thank you!! Kim

Hi , welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service. I have read your question and here is my advice.
yes mode disorder may occur with this drug however its not mostly permanent .It can also be less if the drug is initiated low , and slowly increased. However other causes of mode disorders should be first rules out , if still a problem you can change the drug, however nothing here mentioned should be done without consultation of your primary doctor .
Hopes i have answered your question .I would be happy to answer any further question if you have.

kind Regards n
