Does Sulfamethoxazole-Trimethoprim Cause Hallucination?
My husband was prescribed sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160mg on 3/20 for a leg infection (looks like a carbuncle). He has had Parkinson Disease for 25 years but does really well, with some sundowning. As of 3/25 he is having hallucinations pretty much 24 hrs. Some loss of appetite. Small mouth sores that he attributed to an ill-fitting lower partial (which he is refusing to wear since 3/24 AM). Could this be side effect of the medication? YYYY@YYYY

Sulfa medications can cause allergic problems in some people. Hallucinations are rare. Loss of appetite and oral mucosal erosion can be caused by Sulfa medications. If the hallucinations continue please do consult a General Physician.
