I am 78 years old. On Friday 11/17/17, I received my 2nd Pneumovax ( 23 ) injection at my new PCP/Internal Medicine doctor s office. I had my 1st one, Pneumovax 13, in January, 2016 from my recently retired PCP and did not realize that I needed the 2nd one within one year of the first. My new physician said despite the injection being over the time limit, it was ok to go ahead and have the 2nd high-dose. Her assistant inoculated my shoulder high up on my left arm. My arm was quite sore throughout Friday and Saturday; I could feel a tender lymph gland in my armpit yesterday and guessed it was a normal reaction. My arm was sorer by bedtime but I was able to sleep soundly. Today I noticed that my arm is on the warm side and bright pink from inside my armpit down to the elbow with a deeper pink circle at the bottom of the pink area. The entire inside area of the arm is affected. My doctor s office did not provide any patient instructions and I wonder if this is a normal reaction to the vaccine. Thank you.
