Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m 23 and recently I had sex with my boyfriend and the condom broke, he said didn t realize until he pulled out after he ejaculated inside me and I m currently not on any other birth control method. I took plan B because this was mid-cycle and I wanted to take every precaution possible. I missed my last period about a month ago, and now my regular period is due again any day now. So it s been nearly two months since I ve had a period. I took multiple pregnancy tests and they all came back negative (the most recent being two days ago). I bled very lightly about 9 days after taking the pill, but haven t had anything since. Again, my cycle is a very regular 28 day cycle. Could this just be the hormones in the plan B messing with my cycle?
Since you haven't got your periods for almost two months and you have a history of intermittent spotting as well as negative for a pregnancy test, there could be associated with underlying hormonal problems.
Kindly get the following investigations done.
1. Blood for FSH and LH hormones.
2. Ultrasound scan of the abdomen.
Kindly consult Obstetrician with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Does Plan-B Affect Menstruation?
Hi, Plan B is an emergency contraceptive pill. After its intake, you need to get breakthrough bleeding by 5 to 7 days. After you get, your cycle will return to normal as it would be before. Since you haven t got your periods for almost two months and you have a history of intermittent spotting as well as negative for a pregnancy test, there could be associated with underlying hormonal problems. Kindly get the following investigations done. 1. Blood for FSH and LH hormones. 2. Ultrasound scan of the abdomen.
