Does Oxycodone Cause Severe Constipation?
Is there a strong pain medication that will not cause constipation? My brother is in extreme pain and on Oxycodone. Tramadol doesn’t even touch the pain. The Oxycodone has put him in the hospital twice in the last month due to extreme constipation. He is not taking anything for his pain as of today. HELP Please.

Yes, Narcotics shut down the motion of the gut and cause constipation. The amount and strength of the narcotic is the determinant. Tramadol does not get to the level of effect that oxycodone can get to. There are medicines specific to help this (movantik).
