Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Norvasc Cause Vibrating Headache, Dizziness And Lightheadedness?
I have high blood pressure and just started a new medication 4 days ago Norvasc 5 mg. I woke up this morning with a headache and I have a vibrating sensation in my head. when I walk I feel dizzy and lightheaded. I also have had some chest pains and cramps in my calves and arches. Could this be a side effect from the blood pressure medication? Should I worried about it. I also take Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg and Metoprolol 25mg twice daily, Klor-Con and Magnesium daily.
Welcome to HCM and thank you for the query. Norvasc can produce dizziness, throbbing headache, palpitation and chest discomfort. It can also produce swelling of ankles. The cramps are more likely due to Hydrochlorthiazide. Norvasc however is a good medicine for high blood pressure and you should weigh the benefit verses the discomfort. If the side effects are unbearable, you should contact your doctor and he might change the medicine to another group which does not have these side effects.
If you have further queries I am available on the HCM webs site. Best wishes, Dr. Noble Zachariah
