Does Naprosyn Elevate Blood Pressure?

I ve recently had fairly intense pain and swelling in both my hands, more intense in my right (I feel it a lot when using mouse on computer) The pain seems to be creeping up my right wrist & times arm. He prescribed Naprosyn-500mg taken 2 times daily. My family physician also was concerned with my blood pressure - he upped my Lorsantan from 50mg (taking for 18 months) to 100mg. Should I be concerned? I ve read that Naprosyn can raise your blood pressure. I don t always take it twice a day.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Naprosyn(Naproxen) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAID and can cause salt & water retention thereby leading to alteration of BP (Resistant hypertension).

Naproxen dosage in adults: PO 250 to 500 mg bid; maximum dose of 1.5 g/day should be used for short term only.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
