Does Monistat Application In The Vagina Cause Severe Inflammation In That Area?

Hello. I had a yeast infection a month or two back and i have another one. I just put monistat up my vagina and around the opening and stuff but now its burning I had to take a shower because it was burning so bad. is that normal? Is it still going to heal. Should I go see a doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Burning can occur with yeast infections because the lining is inflamed and irritated but it can also be due to a reaction to the medication.

If there was no burning prior to the use of the cream, then it is likely due to the cream.
You should consider the use of an antihistamine and anti inflammatory pain killer (eg naproxen or ibuprofen) to see if these would help .

A sitz bath in warm water with bicarbonate soda may help.

I hope this helps
