Does Methylprednisolone Cause Shortness Of Breath?

i was given methyiprednisoione to take for inflammation after carpal tunnel surgery. The dosage was 6 pills on Saturday, 5 on Sunday etc. Last night I jumped out of bed from a dead sleep because I could not catch my breath. Tonight I am having shortness of breath and it feels like I cannot catch my breath. Are these adverse reactions?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

While i can tell you that methylprednisolone does not give rise to shortness of breath. It is often times used as an adjunct to treat conditions like asthma. Could you provide me with more information regarding your age, sex, any other medical problems you have, and any other medications you may be on.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
