Does Menthol Cough Drops Cause Indigestion And Dark Stool?

I am male, 74 in good health, and active. Never problems with digestive system but lately I have some stomach pain and main have noticed a dark stool. I have been eating a lot of menthol cough drops while driving cross country. Could they have irritated my stomach? Not really ever stressed about much. What foods or snacks could soothe the stomach

Noted the history eating a lot of menthol cough drops while driving across country, are 74 and in good health, active no problems about digestive system but lately have some stomach pain and dark stools, wants to know whether Menthol drops irritated the stomach, not stressed, wants also to know which foods and snacks to take to soothe the stomach...
Since you never has any stomach issues in past but have been roaming around the country, there would definitely be a change in foods and beverages. Identify all these foods and beverages that caused such a problem.
Hence I can think of an intestinal infection as the most probable cause.
I would advise you the following:
Send the stool and blood for tests.
Ultrasound of the whole abdomen.
Clinical evaluation and examination.
This will give the most probable diagnosis and a plan for proper management, which may be a course of an antibiotic , symptomatic and supportive treatment.
