Does Macalvit Contain Ingredients From Animal Origin?

My sister has been advised to take Macalvit 500 for joints pain ... are the ingredients of Macalvit 500 of animal origin? We are vegetarians and would like to avoid medicines which are of animal origin. If M-500 has an animal sourced ingredient, can you suggest a suitable synthetic substitute? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Macalvit contains calcium carbonate 625 mg and vitamin D3. It is a synthetic product. It does not contain animal product. your doctor has prescribed Macavit most probably for weak bones which might has been causing pain. So continue Macavit as suggested by your doctor. You have not mentioned your sister’s problem and age in details. Otherwise I would have suggested you in detail.
Thanks!
