General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Georgie,

Let me answer your questions as following:
- lisinopril is not a nitrate. It is an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, used to treat hypertension
- Sildenafil citrate is phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor, used to treat erectile dysfunction. Sildenafil is causing your husband to feel dizzy.

They can be used together. However, sometimes, it happens to have this side effect (dizziness) especially if your husband has a previous history of heart attack or kidney/eye problems.

Please report this side effect to his curing doctor. He might need to adjust their dosage.

Hope this helps.
