Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Lipitor (Atorvastatin) a statin medicine was found to decrease blood CoQ10 concentration. Recent research show that low CoQ10 increases risk for cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, CoQ10 supplements may help to decrease the risk of heart diseases. Hemoglobin A1C level should be normally less than 5.7%. It shows blood sugar control levels over a period of last three months. If it is in pre-diabetic range (5.7% - 6.4%) there is a risk of diabetes. Lipitor affect kidney function in chronic kidney disease stage 2/3. The effect depends on the dose of the medicine; high dose (high intensity therapy) was found to affect the kidney function.
I hope the above information will be helpful for you. Please, feel free to ask me if there is anything else you need to know.
Thank you,
Malik Amonov MD
