Does Kefzol Cause Any Allergic Reactions?

I recently had a strong allergic reaction to Vancomycin in pre-op which caused the doctor to postpone the surgery. They prescribed Kefzol for me to take. If I m allergic to one drug in the same family of antibiotics, isn t there a strong likelihood I would be allergic to another?

hi mam/sir,vancomycin and kefzol do not belong to the same group of antibiotics.i do agree that you are allergic to vancomycin which happens in a great number of people who take it especially intravenous.kefzol is a cephalosporin and there is no any cross reactivity between those two antibiotics.unless you are allergic to pencillin group of antibiotics, you can comfortably go for kefzol.still if you observe any reactions after taking kefzol, kindly stop the drug and report to the doctor.you can try kefzol.if you have any other queries, please write to u.thank you.take care.bye.
