Does Ibuprofen Contain Sulfur Compounds In It?

Does ibuprophen have sulfa/sulfur/or sulfite impound in it? I am allergic C to ALL types of sulfur compounds. (Yes I realize it is a very exclusive club) but something written in my medical records is making me question if Motrin does have this compound in it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.
Ibuprofen does not contain sulfur in it.

I can understand your concern regarding the safety of Ibuprofen while having allergy to sulfur containing compounds.

Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is used for treating pain, fever, and inflammation. This includes painful menstrual periods, migraines, and rheumatoid arthritis.

It is available under a number of trade names, including Brufen, Advil and Motrin.

None of these formulations contain sulfur.

Hope these answer your queries.

A feedback is appreciated.
