Last Friday before thanks giving. I was given a gemzar through my veins and my arm swell up three times the size of my arm. I call my oncologist and saw the PA had ultra sound done and the test show that I had blood clots. Is this one of the side effects? also, I had complain of pain in my port for a year and a half and they tell me that my port was alright since we are getting good blood return. Each time they gave me chemo I complain it was burning and they tell me it was fine and gave me heat pack. Finally, the pain just got too bad that I had my port remove replace. My surgeon told me that I had allot of scaring. My port is right out of the surface since I am a very small person, however the nurses always use the long needle to access my port. I called my surgeon perhaps she can give directives to in infusion staff to use the smaller/shorter needle to access my port since the long needle seems too long to be use for my port. Please, give me some insight.
