Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has atypical parkinsons. He recently has started gabapentin because his feet hurt at night. He has become quite weak and jittery and nervous and exhausted. He also is having stomach cramps occasionally. Could this drug cause any of this? Also he says he just feels terrible. This is the only recently added drug.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Gabapentin has documented side effect of dizziness and the symptoms narrated by you. Though, it is even useful in Parkinson disease and syndrome you have to discuss with your treating doctor for the same and decide whether to discontinue or change the molecule.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Purva Patel
