Does Clonazepam Help In Treating Restless Leg Syndrome?

I have been taking Clonazepam to treat restless leg syndrome for some time and it gives me relief so I can sleep at night. The manufacturer has been Mylan and it has worked. I just refilled by prescription with Walgreens and the manufacturer is Eon. It isn't working at all and my restless leg is keeping me awake and 'driving me crazy'. I take 1MG. Since it is a controlled substance the pharmacy says they will not take the meds back. I would like to find a way to get a 30 day 1mg prescription for the Mylan produced drug and very willing to turn this Eon prescription in. Any suggestions?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine drug and the drug is a good sedative and hypnotic drug. The drug can help in good sleep and thus helps in restless leg syndrome but this drug is not a treatment for RLS. For severe resultless legs drugs like Pramipaxol or Ropinirol are used. These drugs help to reduce the incidence of restless legs and thus result in improvement. Apart from this medicines like Gabapentin or Pregabalin also help to reduce the aching legs and result in refreshing sleep. The drugs of different brands can vary in response and you can go for the the Mylan pharma drug but this is not the right treatment for RLS.

Please visit your doctor for proper evaluation and prescription of these medicines.

Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care.
