Does Cipro Cause Adverse Side Effects?

I took Cipro for 5 days for a bacterial urinary tract infection and I am so scared of everything I have read and wonder, could it have hurt me? I had some symptoms, back pain or more like a dull ache starting on the 4th day of the Cipro. Sort of a moving feeling in my legs and feet. It was in my stomach and lower abdomen, but moved down to my legs. I do not have any pains at this time, just a funny feeling in my leg and feet, some tingling. My kidneys are working well and my bowels, no problems there. No other symptoms now, they have slowly gone away. Is Cipro really that serious of a drug. I do not take any medications and I am 70 years old, but when I get a urinary tract infection I am forced to take pills.

Hi,

I will request please do not fall sick only by seeing the side effects of any medicine. Ciprofloxacin does not have any of the effects that you've been experiencing. There is no drug which do not has side effects but the doctor has to weigh your symptoms and the side effects which are listed.

I also want to make myself clear that most of the side effects listed are of academic value barring a few. So I suggest please do not worry. And Cipro is not the only drug for UTI, there are many and it will depend on your urine culture sensitivity test.

So the next time you have a urinary tract infection, ask your doctor for a urine culture and sensitivity test instead of taking any medicine yourself.
