Does Benadryl Cause Tooth Discoloration?

Can Benadryl used in pill form lead to staining of teeth or will only Benadryl syrup lead to tooth discoloration? I've read that Benadryl Leads to an internal cause for tooth discoloration so I am trying to understand better. I have taken Benadryl in pill form for past 2 months to help me sleep

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain it is true that antihistamines like benadryl if taken for long duration can cause staining and discolouration of teeth..

Another thing which i would like to bring to your notice is that the dizziness that is caused after taking antihistamines is not a good action of the drug but it is a side effect of antihistamines and if taken for long durations along with tooth staining which can hamper the appearance, it can cause fatal side effects..

I would suggest you to stop taking Benadryl and if you have insomnia you should consult a physician and get evaluated for underlying cause of insomnia and if you need medicine anti-anxiety drugs like Valium(Diazepam) can be taken after consultation with physician..

You can also try to release stress , tension and anxiety by doing meditation and yoga..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
