Does Aleve PM Increase Blood Pressure?

I have been taking 5mg of amlodipine each day for high BP. Recently I injured my back and have had much difficulty sleeping and was becoming zombie-like. A friend suggested that I try 2 tablets of Alleve PM but I read online that the combo can cause a raise in BP. Do you have an idea about how much my BP might be affected? And will it most likely be safe for me to take. I would love a good night s sleep!!!

Hi,

The medicine which you are already taking for blood pressure is Amlodipine 5 mg which is okay. Sometimes what can happen is that pain can be associated with increased blood pressure in some patients. The medicine which you are taking i.e., Alleve PM contains an NSAID i.e., Naproxen sodium for pain and the sleep aid Diphenhydramine HCL. I would suggest you take this medicine as it would result in better sleep and relief from pain. There is no chance this medicine will increase your blood pressure.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
