Does Albuteral Cause Panic Attacks?

When I took my Albuteral this morning I felt like I was having a panic attack afterwards. I ve never had this reaction before. I felt terror , like i was going to die of a heart attack. I wanted to run, scream, and felt like I couldn t breathe even though I was breathing fine. Then got nauseas. this lasted for a couple hours. No chest pain, but tightness. I have felt out of sorts all die, but not to that extreme. Could it have been a new reaction to the Albuteral? I m a female 54 years old.

Hello
Welcome here.
Albuterol can cause panic attacks mostly in chronic users. Most vulnerable age group is 45-55 years.
The reason behind this is that it can activate sympathetic system and lead to symptoms similar to panic.
You should talk to your treating doctor about this.
A low dose of xanax (prescription drug) can prove beneficial to abort acute panic attack.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
