Do Probiotic Supplements Cause Inflamed Spots Around Old Wounds?

My son, 28 years old, has ulcerative colitis. He started taking some probiotics to help his stomach issues a week ago. During this time, his trips to the bathroom has gone down significantly 24 times a day to 4 times a day. Two days ago red, hard spots have appeared at sights of old injuries. They are swollen and hot. I was wondering if this might be toxins or some kind of waste that is trying to exit the body?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If there is a stressor/ infectious cause then probiotics wont help. If the condition worsened after taking probiotics then it should be stopped. You didn't specify the site where these lesions occurred.

Hope I have answered your query.
