Do Ovarian Cysts Cause Severe Pain In The Lower Abdomen?

I am concerned for my daughter in law. she is 35, (health conscious, average size) has had a history of very painful ovarian cysts. the last few weeks they were very sever. she went to the hospital and doctor, both said she is too young to take the ovaries out. She said she has been feeling better but on Saturday she felt a couple of small sharp stabbing pains. and now across her lower abdomen ( below her belly button) is dark bruising. I asked he if the color was changing to lighter colors and she said no just getting darker. She said she did not have time to go to the doctor again... could the cysts be causing the bruising or do you think this could be something else. I asked her if she was having any other symptoms and she said no.

Ovarian cysts generally are common in reproductive age group. They mostly come and resolve on their own. However if they become large in size or undergo torsion or twisting they need to be surgically removed. The bruising is unlikely to be caused by them as ovaries are deep in the pelvis.
