Do Natural Blood Thinners Have Side Effects?

I ve had problems with blood thinners causing bruising but also things like depression so I switch to supplements and went the more natural route but after a few weeks, I m starting to have bruises appear and have been a bit down and irritable last couple of days, plus large appetite that I had on Eliquis has also returned. Can natural blood thinners (I m taking garlic, cinnamon and cranberry pills as well as two regular aspirin each morning) also have such side effects? I need blood thinners due to Factor 5 Leiden mutuant gene which caused two clots this year.

Hello welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

You are having thrombotic tendency because of factor v Leiden mutation. Your bruise could be because of side effect of high dose aspirin. You can decrease the dose of aspirin. As per my opinion apixaban like anticoagulant can be started for such high thrombotic tendency patient. I suggest you to consult hematologist for examination and discuss your case.

Hope I have answered your question.
